What is CLA?
Conjugated Linoleic Acid, or CLA, is an essential omega-6 fatty acid that is naturally present in animals, predominantly in grass-fed cattle. Although naturally occurring, cattle-feeding practices have significantly changed over the years, making it difficult to obtain optimal levels of CLA through beef and dairy alone. Safflower however, has been shown to be the richest source of linoleic acid, which is easily converted to CLA through a proprietary process.
The Proof Behind CLA
CLA has been shown to help improve fat metabolism while helping to preserve lean muscle tissue. In a study conducted in the Journal of Nutrition associating CLA with body fat reduction, subjects showed to have a significant decrease in body fat mass.
CLA has been shown to help support healthy HDL, aka “good cholesterol”, levels. In a study published in Genes and Nutrition, CLA demonstrated to reduce triglyceride levels and improve lipid metabolism in cells.
CLA has been shown to act as a substantive element in supporting blood glucose levels. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition indicated CLA delayed the onset of type 2 diabetes and improved insulin sensitivity.
